REAL MADRID TO FACE CLUB AMERICA LIVE ON PAY-PER-VIEW
San Francisco game will be on iN Demand, DIRECTV and DISH Network
HOBOKEN, NJ---One of Mexico’s top clubs, Club America, will square off against one of Europe’s traditional powerhouses in an international friendly on Wednesday, August 4th at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, Calif.
Real Madrid v Club America, presented by Marquez Brothers Entertainment, is being distributed in the United States by Integrated Sports Media for live viewing at 11 PM/ET – 8 PM/PT on both cable and satellite pay-per-view via iN Demand, DIRECTV and DISH Network in the United States for a suggested retail price of only $24.95.
America has won more titles than any other team from Mexico, with a combined 33 championships in their team history, including 10 Mexican league championships.
Real Madrid has won more titles than any team in the history of Spain’s La Liga, with 31. The team also has won nine European championships. The Galacticos finished second in La Liga in each of their last two years, after winning back-to-back titles in 2006-07 and 2007-08. Jose Mourinho has taken over as the coach of the team.
The team’s star-studded lineup up features Cristiano Ronaldo and Xabi Alonso.
Ronaldo scored 29 goals in league competition last year, after being transferred from Manchester United for a world record sum of $132 million. He was the FIFA World Player of the Year in 2008 and finished as the runner-up in 2009.
Xabi Alonso played every game for Spain at the recent World Cup, commanding the midfield as the Spaniards won their first ever World Championship.
Club America, owned by television tycoon Emilio Azcárraga, are considered the richest team in Mexico, yet have not won a domestic title since 2005. They did win the SuperLiga title in 2008. They are under the direction of recently-appointed head coach Manuel Lapuente.
